By W. Harris
I ordered this treadmill from Amazon and it arrived via 18 Wheeler within a week. It takes 2 adults to set this up but it should only take an hour. Set up via the touchscreen was effortless. It comes with a free 12 month subscription to iFit. Although you do not need to have an iFit account for this to operate it makes a tremendous difference as far as options available. I have run in 2 5ks that the iFit community sponsored and I have set up 3 of my own maps that I usually run locally. This feature alone makes it worth the price imo. I am posting some pictures of some of the functions that are not addressed in the user manual or the product description. The Android browser works great and you can even listen to Pandora through the web while you run. The MP3 in is located on the side along with a USB port. The USB port is for maintenance only and will not charge your iPod. The box that it comes in is 86 inches long, 33 inches wide and 12 inches deep. Once we got it in the house we took the supporting parts out and then moved the main unit. It is extremely heavy so I would use furniture sliders or have at least 4 people help you move it into the room you want it to be in. If you are going upstairs then good luck. I have had a cheaper treadmill before and you can tell that this is a quality product. These are on par with the ones at my gym but with better features to keep you entertained while you run. Netflix does not seem to be supported but a host of other sites work fine. Everything you do can be tracked through iFit.com. I am very happy with the purchase and the warranty that Pro-Form has is one of the best in the industry. Just make sure you have someone help you set it up or pay extra and have it set up when it is delivered.

Received the Proform 1450 as a gift. From day one the technical support line has had a 25 to 55 minute wait, yet if you called the sales line you get through inside of 5 minutes. This sort of set the tone for the whole episode.
After assembly and update via wifi of the firmware our unit would not mechanically operate even though the display screen on the android tablet operated like nothing was wrong. Tech support sent a complete console out which arrived 8 days later and involved un-assembling and reassembling the upper part of the unit. Same result occurred. They then sent out a new firmware which was to be over-nited but arrived 2 days later. This time I noticed that when my wifi was disconnected the machine ran fine, but when I reconnected to my home wifi, the mechanics stopped working. I called the special support line for the software / android portion of the unit with this news and was then told this is a known issue! They then told me that in order for the machine to work, I was to replace my wifi router (Cisco) or add a second "cheap" wifi unit, in order to have it work. I commented that I thought it more of a solution to fix the software but this got me nowhere, and I was told no other work around was available.
So I have almost exceeded the 30 days to return the unit, with no packaging to do so, and a big common carrier charge if I return it. I have worked with electo-mechanical devices for 26 years from many sources, and have never experienced anything like this. Essentially because the wheel came off the cart, I am to shoot the horse? My router is a top of the line Cisco unit but the support person could not tell me a brand and model that works, nor let me know if they were working on a fix.
When it ran manually, it seemed like a great product, but the point of the 1450 is the interaction between ifit and the user. The lack of wifi eliminates that feature.
Frustrated in Connecticut

By Heather
My rating above is for the treadmill itself. I went to a local fitness store to try it out before buying online, and it's great to run on. It has enough cushioning that my shins aren't instantly in pain. The price on Amazon (no state tax!) is hard to beat, and with my Prime membership, I had it in three days. Thanks Amazon!
The frame is well made and very sturdy. This also means that it is very heavy. I purchased a mat to put under the treadmill to protect the floors, and I would suggest the same to anyone thinking about the purchase. Just make sure you get one that is large enough to fit the treadmill. I'm 5'9", so the 80" length is perfect, but it does take up a lot of space. Be sure to measure the room you want to put it in before hand, and take into account the ceiling height. I haven't measured for precision but the deck puts me a lot closer to my 8' ceiling that I thought it would. (I did test the incline and I'm happy to say after bringing it up two flights of stairs that I can run on it at the 15% grade without hitting my head.)
The touch screen is large and easy to use. I'm not sure if I'll be willing to pay $100/year for the iFit membership once the free trial is up, but I do enjoy the extra features. The purchase of this treadmill was largely driven by wanting to train from home for a half marathon, and the built-in training programs are great. I'm also looking forward to being able to enter the course route through the Google Maps feature once it's been published. The wifi connected easily and without any problems. Streaming video doesn't seem to work (I tried both Netflix and Amazon streaming) but the rest of the webpages I tried came up without any problems.
The thing that really makes this a 4-star instead of 5 is the fan. In this price range, I was expecting the fan to be a bit better. It is not very powerful, and the angle of it doesn't reach my face, where I really want it. This is easily solved by placing another fan in the room, but the treadmill is not cheap and the fan is a basic feature. I expected better.
As far as assembly goes, the instructions are thorough and well-written. It will take some time, and there are places where you really need two people, but overall not difficult. It took us several hours, but we were already tired from carrying the treadmill upstairs.
The following has nothing to do with the quality of the treadmill, and therefore doesn't affect the star rating, but getting it into my house was a nightmare. I called the shipping company (CEVA) to find out if I needed to be present to sign for the treadmill, and was told I did not. I was further told that if I was present, they would bring the treadmill up the two flights of stairs for me. In light of this, I stayed home from work to wait. The delivery came at the last possible minute (my window was 11-4, they came at 3.45) and the driver was reluctant to do anything further than get the treadmill off the truck. He outright refused to bring it into the house. Additionally, I was required to sign for the treadmill. The information provided by the shipping company was either completely incorrect or their employee failed to do his job. I'm not sure which, but either way, getting a very heavy piece of equipment up two flights of stairs was not easy. If you plan on keeping the treadmill on an upper floor, you may want to consider hiring someone to install it. The shipping weight is listed at over 250 lbs, and though the treadmill requires assembly, the bulk of the weight is in the deck piece. The combined size and weight of this piece made maneuvering it around corners and up stairs particularly difficult. The weight is not evenly distributed, but seems to be almost entirely in the front where the motor is.
Over all, I am very satisfied with the purchase. Proform makes a quality product, and once it was set up and good to go, the treadmill was great. I will, however, avoid the shipping company CEVA going forward if at all possible.
